what is the best brand digital camera to buy?
Posted on Jun 26, 2008 under Digital news and reports |my kodak digital camera and printer have been acting up. the printer pretty much is junk and is only a year old. the camera is a little over two years old. i think its time to get a new one and am curious as to what would be a good choice. i want something easy to use and takes good pictures. the one i have now is a 5 mega pixel and would like at least an 8 mega pixel.

an 8mp camera is gonna range from 150 on up but they are worth it i have a cannon and i love it it has great clarity!!!

Canon or Sony, but I would go with Canon.
Sony has great style, but Canon has a little bit better picture quality.

Look for memory size and optical zoom range versus price. You'll probably want to add memory anyway. Go to the store and mess with them. See if you like the way the function, location of buttons, ease of using the menu, and so on. It really is a judgment call.
For either small consumer cameras or professional SLR I tend to favor Canon. But there are certainly plenty of others. Check out the Canon Power Shot.
Watch out, most digital cameras don't take pictures at an aspect ratio that matches standard print sizes. But some cameras, like the Canon, have a setting for that. Otherwise if you go to the store to have prints made you'll get edges cut off.

Kodak may look appealing because of the price, but as your case proves, they don't last for the long haul. I would recommend the Casio Exilim cameras. They are reasonably priced, and very high quality. An awesome feature that most of the Casio's offer is the Youtube capture mode. It allows you to record video clips in the video format that works with Youtube, so you can share all your fun moments. Also, some of the newest models offer an Itunes capture mode as well. This way you can record video clips that can be dragged and dropped straight into your Itunes library, and put on your Ipod from there. I'm planning to buy a new Casio camera soon. That's my two cents! I hope this helps you.

The point-and-shoot camera I have is the Canon PowerShot SD1100 IS. I am not disappointed with the purchase at all!
It's priced at $250.00 and is the newer model of its predecessor, the SD1000. It's sleek, small, and carries 8 MP worth of resolution. The zoom is 3x optical (ignore digital zoom claims, it's crap), and it comes in five colors.
You should check that one as well as other Canon cameras. Canon is a great camera company. It may be a bit pricer compared to Kodak, but trust me the money is well worth the quality and durability.

Please get a canon. They are the best cameras by far, when it comes to point-and-shoots.
