Which digital cameras are the best and where is the cheapest place to find them?
Posted on Jun 26, 2008 under Digital news and reports |I currently have a small canon A400 digital camera, but I am looking for a camera with a zoom around 8, 10, or 12. I am not very knowlegable of cameras. Which cameras are the best, and is there a good place to buy a nice camera, with out spending alot of money? I have found some new refurbished cameras on ebay, with warranties?

You might look into the Canon PowerShot A570 IS
4X optical zoom, 7 megapixels or Canon PowerShot A720 IS, 6X optical zoom, 8 megapixels. Both have image stabilizer for shaky hands and can be used manually in addition to auto. Places to price would be Beach Camera, Abe's of Maine, B&H Photo, and Adorama.
For super zoom consider Sony Cyber-shot DSC-H3. 10X optical zoom, 8 megapixels, and of course an image stabilizer.

Consumer Reports consistently recommends Fuji cameras. I have an older Olympus I have no problems with and a new Nikon P80 I like very much. There are a lot of really good digitals out there. I'd stick with Nikon, Canon, Sony which bought out Minolta, Olympus and Fuju. I'd also buy from a local store so I could take the thing back for help. I recently had a terrible experience with an online camera store and will never do that again.
