It's time for a new digital camera, any recommendations?
Posted on Aug 03, 2008 under Digital news and reports |I've been using a Samsung Digimax S500 (5.1 mega pixels, 3x optical zoom, and a 2.4'' LCD) camera for over 1 year (2 years on christmas). It was also my first digital camera ever. It uses 2 double A batteries. I've been looking online to see what camera I should get and I read the reviews people have written but I'm not so sure on what to choose so I came here for help!
I'd like a small camera, with as many mega pixels as possible, the same or a larger LCD and more zoom. Pretty much just like the Samsung Digimax S500 only waaay better. Oh and a rechargeable battery that you can like just connect to an electrical outlet, I always have to buy double A batteries for my camera and it gets annoying. Any suggestions?
oh and as for the camera's price, it doesn't really matter, just nothing super extremely expensive lol.

I prefer Canon, just bought a Nikon Coolpix and I think the Canon has a better image capture than the Nikon

the new sony cameras are amazing, I would recommend them, they are smaller than most and take amazing pictures.

Panasonic Lumix DMC-TZ3K 7.2MP Digital Camera with 10x Optical Image Stabilized Zoom :] it doesn't have the best MP (7.2) but it has ALOT of zoom (10x) and a 3 inch LCD. also has a rechargeable lithium ion battery (at least, i think it's lithium ion - but i know for sure it's rechargeable). it's not that expensive, you can probably buy it for less than $200 on amazon.com or something. hope i helped! good luck (:

Definitely go Canon! I have this one…

and it is amazing!!!
but for an extra $70 you get 1 more megapixel and 3.8 optical zoom!

actually i'd recommend any of these!

and most of the cameras found on the lst link are rechargeable batteries (lithium ion I think…)
the first link is the one i have and it is way better than my old Nikon, Samsung, HP ones!
ya i know i've gone through a lot of digital cameras…i have a tendency to lose them……oops!

I would suggest looking for a used professional SLR Digital Camera. The SLR cameras are so fun to shoot with…you can get different lenses for them…I suggest trying a cheap generic fisheye…It is fun
You can buy an expensive professional SLR Digital Camera that sold for thousands a few years ago for a few hundred bucks today. They still have the same great quality they did when they were thousands of dollars…
My recommendation is a Canon…maybe a d30, Digital Rebel or even a Canon d10 is a great camera…also really affordable now…but the choices in accessories is great! Battery grip, rechargeable batteries, flash, filters and lenses…so fun to play with….They are very easy to use…has different modes to help you with your shots…Portrait Mode for Close-ups of people….landscape mode for shooting scenery…action mode for action….It has a nightshot mode for amazing shots….it fires the flash but leaves your shutter open for a few mil-seconds longer to capture the surrounding light…they look beautiful…great for fireworks or Xmas lights…
It is a great way to get a great professional digital camera that takes amazing shots…they are better than the consumer digital cameras. They are also alot more fun to use with different lens choices…..
I purchased 2 cameras from http://photographersadvantage.com and have been very pleased with my new found hobby!
Good luck and happy shooting
