My digital camera got wet in the rain.. guys, please help me?
Posted on Aug 27, 2008 under Digital news and reports |Yesterday my digital camera got wet. it wouldnt work.. so I took out the memory card and the battery and left it leaning against the wall.. luckily.. today it worked again, i pressed the ONbutton and it went on.. and I can see everything through the tiny-digital-screen-thing. HOWEVER..there’s a smudge right in the middle caressing its way down to the bottom. I think it’s from the water.. is this a permanent smudge within the screen? maybe if I leave it out for another day it will dry up completely? or did I ruin some plasma liquid behind the screen with the water?
Any suggestions? Advice? Please help me !!! I’d be sooo grateful , you have no idea!

If the smudge does not show up on your photos when viewed on your computers monitor, it is something you can live with until you buy a new camera in a few years.
PS .. your screen is a LCD … Not plasma

Let it dry again for a day. Most likely this is a problem just within the LCD. Make sure to clean your camera lens, but only with a proper lens-cleaning product! Other things (even T-shirts) can scratch the optics.
Other then that, check by taking a few new photos, and see if they are smudgy in the computer. If so, it MIGHT be worth getting your camera cleaned, but with camera costs so cheap this days…
