well with Digital Photography
yer gonna be using a digital camera and probably
photoshop.

Photography is just that… Photography.
How it gets captured (digital vs film) has the same differences as shooting events, landscape or sports
The sure advantage you get with digital as a student is that you will be able to shoot thousands of practice pictures on the weekend withouth having to ‘waste’ lots of money developing Film

In digital photography you use a digital camera. You do not use film, and you do not learn how to develop your own film, etc. Most of the time you will be using a computer. Most likely you will be taught how to use Photoshop to edit your pictures and to do other things. Digital photography is fun, you’ll enjoy it.

There is a huge difference in the approach to teaching camera control, because the student can delete all their mistakes and that makes it hard for an instructor to figure out what problems the student is having with exposure and composition … with film, you develop 36 of your images at once and the good, bad and ugly are all there to assist the student in honing their camera techniques … there is no better way to bring this point to the students attention, than to have them attempt to print all their images … the properly exposed ones, under and overexposed as well. This will prove to the student how important exposure is when it comes to photography.
Shooting rather expensive film, provides discipline new photographers need so someday out of 36 shots, more than half are marketable … if you look at the number of digital images a new student has to take, to get one good one, you will see the part of the reason for taking a traditional photo class and learn how to expose, develop and print images first … then when your skills as a photographer are established, move into the digital arena.
