Can I send digital audio from my PS3 through my pc?
Posted on Aug 31, 2008 under Digital news and reports |Alright, so I’m a complete beginner when it comes to this stuff, so I apologize in advance for any stupidity on my part.
I have a PS3 that I want to play with using my PC monitor. I’ve got that all sorted out, but now the problem is sound. I was curious if I could use the PS3’s digital audio out, run it through my pc, and out my speakers (my sound system is older, but has no digital input itself. My pc, on the other hand, has a digital port.)
Any ideas? Is this possible?

Yes it’s possible so long as that digital port is an INPUT and not an output. Some mid range sound cards have an output, but may not have a digital input. You’d have to have a high range card for it to probably have an input.
Assuming it is an input, your soundcard should be advanced enough to let you set digital in to line out (your speakers). It’s probably available in a program that came bundled with your soundcard.
