What’s the best (and cheapest) type of digital camera?
Posted on Sep 30, 2008 under Digital news and reports |I don’t know much about digital cameras, but I would like to own one. I started browsing at the different kinds but I became confused. I dont want a big expensive one, just a digital camera that takes good quality pictures and it has to be capable of uploading pics onto my computer. Also, i noticed that cameras had different megapixals..?? What are megapixals? and what is the recommended kind of camera that I should get?

Megapixels are how good the quality of thy picture will be. The higher the megapixels, the better the picture will look. I’d get a camera with atleast 6.
And all cameras come with instructions, so read them and play around with your camera to get the hang of it.
As for a good.. cheap camera..
I think the saying “You get what you pay for” applys here.

A camera that can recharge with a recharger provided. Buying batteries become expensive.
A camera that has a view finder (saves power) as well as the usual LCD screeen.
A camera with 5 or more megapixels. Unless you plan to blow your pictures up to post on your wall, that's enough.
A camera with at least 3x zoom (more would be good)
A camera that can take shots of fast moving objects (sports mode)
I agree with above. A best camera for me is in the $300 and above range. Save your money and wait while you do thorough research into the purchase. My other sister bought a cheap digital camera and the color doesn't seem right and her photos are not sharp. I don't think she notices, though. She's just glad to have A CAMERA.
I have a Fuji, my sister has a Sony and we both like ours. Nikon cameras are excellent, too.

Megapixel is the quality of the pictures of camera. The more the mega pixel the sharpest would be the pictures.There are cheap cameras of china but they are not the best.

Take a look at the Canon A-590IS you can find it on sale for $149
Uses rechargeable AA batteries buy 4 and leave 2 in your pocket. You need the charger as well maybe $20. And a 1 GB SD card About $12 This camera has an easy mode so it will be a good 1st digital camera. Just point and shoot.

A good Cheap digital camera will generally have about 7 mega pixel, at least 3x Optical zoom, and usually an Image Stabilizer. However, Mega pixels are not so important. No point buying a 12 mega pixel camera if the lens quality is poor and wont transfer enough information or detail to the sensor!
Try Canon… They make a really good range of low cost cameras with decent picture quality.
