no, you have to make sure the lens you want will fit the lens mount of the camera you have. Canon lens won't fit Nikon and vise versa….although some third party companies make lenses for both.
Also the focal size of the sensor is a bit smaller than 35mm film so if you use a lens for a Nikon film camera it will fit but you narrow the view / aspect so a 55MM film lens will yield approximately the same view as a 70mm digital lens would.
Any lens with a Nikon F bayonet mount will fit. This is Nikon lenses and some third party lenses made for Nikon. Pre-AI ( some home converstions to AI may not mount) , AI and AI-S will work in manual mode but will not meter or autofocus. AF, AF-D, AD-I and AF-S will all mount, meter and autofocus on the D-80 Invasive fisheyes will not work and will damage the mirror
I hope this helps
DX Nikkor: All functions supported;
Type G- or D-AF Nikkor: All functions supported;
Micro Nikkor 85mm F2.8D: All functions supported except some exposure modes;
Other AF Nikkor (excluding lenses for F3AF): All functions supported except 3D Color Matrix Metering, i-TTL balanced Fill-Flash for digital SLR;
AI-P Nikkor: All functions supported except 3D Color Matrix Metering, i-TTL balanced Fill-Flash for digital SLR and autofocus;
Non-CPU: Can be used in exposure mode M, but exposure meter does not function; electronic range finder can be used if maximum aperture is f/5.6 or faster.
Actually, it is possible. If you are willing to use manual focus, you can look for an adapter that allows you to use another mount on the Nikon D80. For example, you can buy a mount for around $30 that allows you to use Olympus OM lenses on a Nikon D80. Because these adapters do not allow for the connections necessary for auto focus and other features, you will have to set the camera manually (shutter, aperture, etc.) and focus manually. These mounts can be found online at ebay and a variety of online stores. It’s not an easy solution, it’s not the preferred solution, it is possible though, and that is what you asked.
Helpful info. Lucky me I discovered your website unintentionally, and I am surprised why this twist of fate didn’t took place earlier! I bookmarked it….
