What are “Prisms” in digital photography?

I need a defination of what prisms are and how they relate to digital photography. I need it for help on making a Flyer talking about them. Info or sites to find info about them would be EXTREMELY helpful… thanks!! :]

  2. almost all single lens reflex cameras both film and digital use a prism to redirect the light and image from the mirror into the viewfinder. Most SLR use a use a roof pentaprism or penta-mirror. A small number used a porro prism. Is this what you are talking about ?
