Can I start using my Digital TV converter now?
Posted on Nov 24, 2008 under Digital news and reports |I just got my coupons for the digital tv converter box, so I went and got them. Can I hook them up now and start using them, or do I have to wait until they make the switch in February?

Yes, many stations already broadcast digitally as well as in analog in anticipation of the swtichover in februrary.

There are several digital channels that are active right now. They might mostly be your local channels and if you have a hdtv they will look fantastic.

Use it now and get extra stations in digital format, with very clear pictures.

You can start now. Stations have been using both digital and analog signal so if you want your digital TV now you can get it now.

Yes, I’ve recieved my new Digital TV converter box and it’s much better clarity and sound from the box right now versus just regular rabbit ears.

You can certainly install and use it now. The only temporary disadvantage is that you will no longer be receiving your customary analog channels. That will become moot in February, but it could be a minor issue now since all TV channels do not yet have their digital transmitters on the air in their final configuration. Some are on low power and some are on temporary antenna locations, both of which might give you reception problems.
