You mean electronic drum pads with an acoustic drum kit?
Easy…
Some drummers put them in the middle of the set aside with their normal Acoustic Tom-toms. Also, some other drummers put them off to the side like an xtra snare or xtra Tom-tom.
Honestly..there is no standard drum kit set up rule for doing this.
It’s YOUR drum KIT and you can do whatever drum set up you really want because it has to feel comfortable to YOU when playing the drums. I’ve ALWAYS encouraged drummers to experiment with their drum kits on set ups and see what works for them. I did some real crazy experiments where I flipped my Splash cymbal upside down on my Hi-hat stand…I wanted something different drom what other drummers were doing normally so you have to go try out new things on the kit like adding
Chimes,
Bells,
Congas
Cow Bells
or whatever you feel like adding to your drum kit.
YOUR drum kit is an artistic expression of who you are as a drummer and that drum kit is your painting…
you are an artist and that drum kit is your canvass
to paint your music on…
had set their kits up.
Also..Google up old pix of Neil Peart & Alex Van Halen…they BOTH used Acoustic & Electronic Drum pads on their Tour Drum kits back in the mid 1980s too. This will also help you see just how they set up their massive 30 piece drum kits back in the 1980s. Hope this helps
