I’m sure it’s not the only camera that would fit your needs, but I love-love-love my Canon Powershot SD450. It’s very small, literally fits in the pocket (and gets lost in a large purse or backpack). I bought an extra large-capacity chip for it. It’s a few years old now, so they probably have a newer model.
Last year we vacationed in a place that demanded pictures, and I didn’t fill the big chip–and I didn’t need to recharge the camera’s battery, either.
