I have a Canon Digital Rebel Xti and would like to buy a new lens. I take mainly fashion portraits. What do ?

I would like to spend between $200 and $900….but would like the lens to be a dramatic difference from the kit lens that I am currently using.

You want contrast and sharpness for fashion. Try the Canon 85mm F1.4. Its great for blurring the background and keeping colors contrasty and sharp. Its a little on the longer side though but a great lens for a decent price. If you’re into zooms then you may want to try the canon 17-40 f4L. Its another great zoom if you’re going to be up closer and want full body shots with great quality but its going to cost from the $550-$600 range. An older canon 28-70 f2.8L is what i use and its great too but hard to find cause its older and cheaper. The newer 24-70mm is also good but thats upwards $1100

Because of the crop factor of that body I would take a look at the Canon EF 50mm f/1.4. It’ll run you about $450. It has great reviews all around and the focal length and wide aperture are ideal for fashion photography.
