I need help buying a digital camera.?
Posted on Dec 29, 2008 under Digital news and reports |Okay so I have a Vista Quest 5.0 megapixel digital camera. It was a cheap $50.00 one I got from Wal Mart. Okay well surprise surprise the picture quality SUCKS. I'm looking to buy a new one and there's one I got my eye on BUT will it have beautiful picture quality? It's a Nikon D40 Black 6.1MP Digital SLR Camera Kit w/ 18-55MM Lens . I have no clue what that means but it looks like a good camera. Will it take really good picture quality? And great close ups? I want to get into photography and I DON'T want to be stuck with a piece of crap camera like the one I have now.

The Vista Quest is one of those "bottom of the barrel", "I just want a camera but only have two dollars" kind of camera.
All P&S cameras automatically choose the exposure for the user, based upon various "modes", like museum, fireworks, night portrait and the like.
DSLR's like the Nikon D40, while it can be used on the Program mode and other preselected exposure types, in the end it is a fully adjustable, very high quality camera, capable of shooting professional quality images when in the hands of an experienced photographer and can use interchangeable lenses from extreme wide angle to exteme telepoto lenses. There are at this time 25 AF-S lenses avaiable and more if you include the many good used AF-S an AF-I lenses that opperate with this camera.
At under $400 for the camera and lens, it is a steal and will give you the opportunity to start building a camera system as you interest, enjoyment and camera skills grow
