Why does my Windows Media Player have sound, but doesn't show the video from my digital camcorder?

I plugged in my Insignia HD camcorder into my computer with the USB. When I try to play back the video with Windows Media Player, I have sound from the video, but I can't see the video. I just see the visualization effect in place of the video. What am I doing wrong or not doing?

Ok. Here's my situation. Our house has comcast cable. There's a big screen HDTV in bought around 2001 in the basement that's hooked up to a comcast HDTV cable box. Then there's a LCD TV in the living room bought in May on this year hooked up to a HDTV cable box . Then's there's two regular TV's upstairs in the bedrooms bought between 2002-2004 hooked up to cable via a cable line.

Am I good or do I have to get any boxes?

I'm getting an iPod for Christmas. I always want to DVD's with free digital copies so I can burn them onto my iPod without having to pay for the movie again on iTunes.

Digital camera to dvd question?

I have mini dv digital video camera and when I trsnsfer the video to dvd I notice that the quality is not that great, what do I do? when I conect the camera to the tv it looks great but when I transfer it to dvd it doesn't
why is that?

We have the opportunity to "win" this camera as a gift (among other possible gifts). We're considering it for our 13 yr old, whose previous camera doesn't work.
