Choosing a Digital Camera HELP!?
Posted on Jan 31, 2009 under Digital news and reports |I want to buy a good digital camera but there are too many to choose from. Are there any good ones out there that I should know about?
Now my price range is about 200 dollars [but not over that!] and I want to be able to take a lot of pictures.
I am in High School so I do need something that won't break if i drop it.
Can someone help me pick out a good camera?

Any of them will break if you drop them unless you bought a hard case (iffy at best) or had a mil-spec unit and those aren't cheap.
Look for a Canon or one of the other major brands.
SD 790 IS is a good one for example:

J&R has them and they are a reputable business I have dealt with. Or check your local stores.

go to costco, sams club, or similar, and buy one there. each has decent prices on everyday basis. buy the memory card there too.
or check the sunday paper ads for a deal + memory. good luck.

If you check the December 2008 issue of CONSUMER REPORT MAGAZINE entitled Best Electronics pages 40-44 you would amazed how many CANON digital cameras are highly rated…
We recently bought a Canon SD1100 (our 2nd digital camera) based on its Top Rating (#2 out of 24 subcompact) The price (in USA $150 to $200) was very reasonable and Wow, we couldn't be any happier bec what an excellent choice: the pics, zoom and slide show are absolutely amazing…at least the experts know and can tell the differences between truly amazing cameras which almost seem indistinguishable and all alike.
The specs for this subcompact Point & Shoot Digital Camera are 8 megapixels, 3x optical zoom, image quality (very good), first shot delay (very good), next shot delay (excellent), versatility (excellent), dynamic range (excellent), maximum ISO with best quality (400), optical/mechanical stabilizer (yes), face detection (yes)
Hope the Above Info Helps!
