  1. if you can
    upgrade to the a2000
    more features
    better zoom
    good camera

  2. i had that camera and it suited me very well
its a really get camera for beginners
but if u decide to take the next step in digital photography, then id suggest the olympus e-420

try and find a good deal, especially when shops are basically giving away cameras. if not wait for a year when they may make something like a touch screen camera which u would look into getting. it always happens- u buy something good and there will always be something way better the next month!

  4. If the only thing you care about is the more Mega Pixels then don't bother - not much difference in consumer cameras between 7.1 and 10MP. They both have Digic III and face detection - pretty similar cameras.

The A1000 has less zoom than the A470 - so that would be a downgrade - on the other hand the A1000 has Image stabilization that the 470 doesn't. If you don't care about the Image stabilization stick with the 470.

I would keep the 470 and wait for a bigger upgrade - 1 year or so? Big camera show very soon (PMA)

  5. No. It's not worth the upgrade.

If you want to upgrade, I suggest save the money now. Take your present camera out and take photographs. Get involved with it. Experiment with it and make the best of it. After sometime you'll know what exactly do you require in your camera and then at that time think of upgrade.

Your asking the question here says that you are yet to exploit your present camera to its full extent. Once when you have done it and longed for some specific features, you'll yourself know what to look for in your next camera.
