Why the opposition to digital tv coupons.?
Posted on Feb 27, 2009 under Digital news and reports |I am no Obama supporter. there are plenty of things to critisize in his stimulus bill but why do I keep hearing people complain about compensating people for a converter box so they can watch thier analog tv.
It is NOT about a right to watch tv. It is about a Constitutional obligation of the government. The Constitution clearly states that property can not be taken without just compensation. If you have a piece of property (no matter what it is) and the government prevents you from using it, then they must compensate you for it.
The fact that the government does cover the whole cost of the converter box is a violation of the Constitution.
If you believe in the Constitution would you rather the government pay people for their tv's? How do you figure out how much its worth? If you make it one amount then some people may be getting too much and some may not get enough.

How does giving out coupons create jobs. It was supposed to be a "stimulus" bill not a pork filled bill. I'm all for giving away the coupons but put it in a different bill instead of calling it stimulus.
