I am looking for something with a cost under $400.00, with enough mega pixels to print clear 10×13 photos. I would also like to get an optic zoom that will go pretty far without having to use a different lens. I will mostly be using it for pictures of my kids, so it has to have a fast shutter speed to catch the action. I would appreciate any recommendations you all could make.

Looking for a digital still camera so I can ditch my camcorder?

I'm looking for a digital still camera that does reasonable video.

Does anybody know what the Resolution and frame rate is of a regular video camera? Is it 720×480? 30fps? Is it 60fps or 30? I've got an old Sony digital to tape and I don't want to loose too much quality by dumping it.

I haven't looked for cameras for a while but, here's what I'm looking for:

$100 to $200 range
Pocket sized
Quick startup.
Fairly short shutter lag.
Has to be able to use optical zoom in movie mode (My current one doesn't)
3x optial zoom (at least)
SD
image stabilizer

Things I'm not so worried about:

Mega-pixel
Docking station
Editing features on the camera
Also, good re-eye reduction would be great.

Don't really need face detection, direct to printer printing.

Except for continuous shooting mode sometimes, I mostly keep the camera on auto.

Don't want Sony … I have a ton of SD cards that I use for everything.
I also don't need HDMI output or video output. I won't be hooking this camera up to a TV.
Thanks for the Canon Powershot A590IS suggestion. A friend of mine has that one and really likes it. I wanted something a little smaller but, I'll keep that one in mind.
