Is Canada switching or have they already switched to digital TV like the US is doing this year?

Canada is switching to digital and i think it might actually be sometime this month.

We're switching, it hasn't happened yet.
I'm not sure the exact date though.

I had the guy from the cable company here a few weeks ago for an unrelated matter and he mentioned to me that we will be changing over but that it won't be for a few more years. He didn't have a date other then that. I think we still have a lot of need for analog TV given some of the distances and remote areas we have here.

It will work. In a major city you might get five or six channels.

According to Industry Canada, they will be switching to digital. However, the Canadian deadline to switch is August 31, 2011.
