Are the cheaper brands of digital pianos like diginova and gear4music and classenti worth buying? or rubbish?!?
Posted on Mar 30, 2009 under Digital news and reports |Hi guys, i have been waiting a long time to buy the perfect digital piano and can never quite afford the really good makes and models, especially with the current climate once again i have been forced to trawl through the discount makes. What i want, to know is are they decent? or good even? I am an intermediate player around grade 5, i just really want a digital piano to act like a real piano or as close to as possible. I dont know if i can trust these brands, what if they are a complete waste of money, i really dont have this money to spend, its going to be a present for my birthday, a few peole are going to chip in, so its really important i get the right one, i only have this one chance to get a decent piano.
I would really like to hear from other piano players that have experience of these makes, that have purchased them or own them right now, please please leave a comment, so I can get a clue as to which make to go for, its sooo important to me to get the right piano.
Many many thanks in advance.

bottom line, they suck
either the Yamaha or the Casio is the only way to go
the others, are glitchy, feel wrong, bad tonal balance
get a good one, and it will be the only one you ever need
go to a music store and play them
you need to as each model keyboard feels and responds differently, you dont need all the fancy tones and rhythm banks of the more expensive, all you need at most is a few tones and the transpose adjuster

There are plenty of other worthwhile makes beyond Yamaha and Casio!!
I’ve played a Diginova and they are very similar quality to the Yamaha Clavinova. They don’t have “rhythm banks or fancy tones” and are generally regarded as good quality without the high pricetag.
