So if time warner cable co. provides me with Internet and digital cable and phone, can I switch my cable modem with my tv cable box. I'm basically swithching my entertainment room with my office. And both have a cable line connected to the cable box or the modem.

  1. Yes you can

  2. No problem. Just remember (some people don't know this) that the computer modem must be used the computer only and the TV cable box must be used with the TV only. As long as the "systems" are kept together, you can move it to anywhere in the house. I've done this a few times in my house.

If your digital cable box worked, then there is no problem simply swapping them out. The only problem you possibly would have had is if there was a distribution amplifier feeding the TV that didn't have reverse amplification. But, if there was one in the line, it would have prevented you from sending signals through the box and back to the cable company (like to view on-demand programming and such). This would have prevented the signals from your computer going back up through the cable modem to the internet.
