Maybe, maybe not. The mind readers are off tonight, so they can't tell us what camera you have either.
It is often better to take a color shot, and convert to black and white later. So even if the camera itself cannot shoot in B&W, you can always make any picture into a B&W in post processing.
You will get better results shooting in color. Make a copy with an editing program and then use the program to convert it to black & white. That way you have your original in case you don't like the black & white.
The Feb. 2009 issue of Shutterbug featured black & white photography and you can read the articles at http://www.shutterbug.com Just type February 2009 in the Search box.
We suppose for the time being i am going to be happy with book-marking along with adding your current RSS feed to my own Yahoo and google account. I anticipate new revisions and can share this blog together with my personal Facebook or myspace group….

Read the manual. Many digital cameras allow you to do that.
You can also change a color picture to black and white using a photo software program. Read the manual or look at the Help menu item for the program.

Most probably, if it's quite new - well, a few years, anyway!
Check your manual for details.
Unfortunately, we can't quite help you if we don't know your camera, but I daresay it does have the option.
If it doesn't, which is quite rare for cameras from 2004~ onwards, then you can always convert it using Photoshop.
Personally, I always use Photoshop as you can adjust the levels and such, allowing for more customisation.
