The vast majority of archival printers these days use pigment-based inks. Pigment inksets such as the Epson K3 are estimated at being stable for over a century on a truly archival paper. Other than pigment, pro's usually use a Durst Lamda or some other optical/photo paper based system. I've seen some folks use dye subs for onsite event use, but the archivability of those prints is usually considered inferior to pigment.
