Is it ok to keep my electronic digital weight scale on the floor if I have a cat?
Posted on May 30, 2009 under Digital news and reports |Might sound silly, but I've heard that these body fat measuring scales emit a very small amount of electricity through your body to measure body fat and I wanted to make sure this would not hurt my cat if he were to get curious and step on it or come in contact with it… Thanks.

just keep it on a counter, just in case. you can take it down when you use it.

LoL thats crazy its fine we have lots of cats and they all stand on the scale and we weight them when there on it. Well if your that worried about it pick it up when ur not using it but I wouldnt think they would make it to hurt an animal they know people have them.

Don't worry about it; cats are a lot smarter than they let on. Exposure to a body fat detector will not harm the cat. And if the cat is the least bit bothered by it you can rest assured that it won't make a return visit.

The amount of electricity these generate is probably about a thousandth of that produce by a cat on the prowl. If they can't hurt themselves I am sure the scales will have no effect. And compared to the amount of energy in the air at all times it is totally negligible.
