I saw one on I love Lucy. So they were around in the 1950's.
The display was not an LCD. It was either metal or paper rolls with the numbers on them.

The first electronic digital was likely commercially made in the early 1970s.
Mechanical digital clocks of various sorts were made throughout the 1960s and 1970s.
