Digital TV won't receive all channels?
Posted on Jun 02, 2009 under Digital news and reports |I have a Swisstec TV with integrated digital (Freeview). It only finds a few channels and those that it does find are not a great quality. I do not think the problem lies with the aerial: I have tried the same plug on the wall and the same cable with a different TV (Goodmans) and it work's perfectly.
I have tried connection a 10dB signal booster between the wall and the Swisstec TV but it doesn't seem to be making a difference.
Any advice on how I could receive all channels or is it a fault with the TV?
Thanks in advance

Sounds like you've done some troubleshooting on your own, which is good. Since you tried a known good TV and it works perfectly with the same aerial and plug (connector), unfortunately that leaves the TV itself as the main suspect.
You can try the following process to see if it helps, but I suspect that the TV set itself is defective.
1. Unplug the TV from AC power and leave it unplugged for about 10 minutes.
2. After 10 minutes, and while the TV is still unplugged, press and hold the main Power button (On/Off switch) on the TV for about 10 seconds. Then release it.
3. Plug the TV back in. Make sure the RF signal input source is connected to the TV.
4. Press and release the main Power button on the TV. It should power up normally, and should start to automatically search for active channels. If it doesn't, go to the TV's Setup (or Settings) menu and select the auto-scan (or auto-program or channel search) option. This will make the TV scan for all active channels and program them into the tuner's memory.
5. If the problem persists - the TV tuner (or other internal elctronic component) is probably defective, and needs to be repaired or replaced.
