When using a digital camera…?
Posted on Jun 11, 2009 under Digital news and reports |Some of my pics have these little red dots over them in night pics. Even if it didn't appear that way on the camera LCD, and even if the image was completely stable (such as, using a tripod). It still has these little red dots on them. Some great pics are ruined by these. Is there any way I can remove them from the pics?

You can remove them by prevention before the photo is taken by using a polarized lens filter. The red dots are opposing mirror reflections inside the lens of a light on the exact other side of the lens. The red dot only disappears when you shoot dead on to the light source. If you move the camera so the light source now appears in the upper right hand corner of the view screen, the red light will appear in the lower left corner. The filter stops this.
After the fact, you can use Aperture or even iPhoto on Mac, or Photoshop on PC or Mac to remove the red dots from the digital image. Easy as pie, if you like pie. I like pie.
