Is the Sony Reader Digital Book worth the money?
Posted on Jun 21, 2009 under Digital news and reports |I'm thinking of buying the Sony Reader Digital Book, but I'm not sure if it's worth the money. I'm an avid reader but I'm not sure if I'm ready to give up regular books. Also, where can you download the "digital" books?

I can't quite justify the cost of the device either. Many books and magazines are already available as ebooks in PDF format. I'd buy a netbook or put the money towards a laptop instead.

I'm a Kindle 2 owner. If you're in the United States, you should definitely go for the Kindle. Here is a comparison of it with the Sony Reader:

The advantage of the Kindle over Sony Reader include free wireless access, more content support, and the text-to-speech function. I like the text-to-speech function especially, because I can "read" books without even holding or looking at the Kindle. Now I like to use this function when I've myself busy on some boring things, say when I'm on the step machine or doing some housework…
I love my Kindle because it has helped me improve a lot on my efficiency and utilize my time. Before I owned the Kindle, waiting time like when I'm waiting for friends or waiting for shuttle bus or some thing like that is simply wasted. Now I just need to bring the Kindle 2 along with me. It is so light weight and handy, and it makes me like to read even more than I have in the past.
I like reading and at the beginning I missed a bit on the feeling of reading books. But now I love to hold the Kindle, the e-ink seems to work very well, it is really like reading books… Now I often read with the Kindle for several hours but I don't feel tired…

I owned the Kindle 2 and I like it very much. It is better than Sony Reader because Amazon provide good content support, and the number of books available in Kindle format is kept on increasing (right now there are over 300,000 Kindle books). Sony Reader, however, many users complaint that it is difficult to find suitable books. Other benefits of the Kindle over Sony Reader include the free wireless internet access, and the text-to-speech function. It worth to pay a bit more for the Kindle 2 and you won't regret.

I agree that you should go for the Kindle instead. It is so much easier for buying books through the Kindle free wireless internet access. And I'll recommend you to read this review, it should help your decision:
