My local TV station has gone digital. My satellite company doesn't receive it. Do I have to have a converter?

  1. If you receive your local channels through an outdoor antenna and your T.V does not have a digital converter then yes you will need the converter box.

I would say if your tv is more than a couple years old you will need 1.

  2. Depends

Many set-top boxes (especially HD ones) have an extra Tuner to connect an antenna so that you can get local channels.

If you don't have one of those, then you need a converter box.
