The Hasselblad H3D is probably the top tier dSLR.
Canon 5D Mark II
Nikon D3
Sony A900 are other top quality dSLR cameras.

If you’re looking for best bang for the buck Nikon DSLR, I’d choose D90. Excellent kit lens, great picture quality, superb interface, impressive high ISO photos, great kit lens. But if you want something from their latest lineup, there’s the high-end D300s and level entry D3000.

It depends on the setting and requirements of the client paying for your services. Most professionals use Canon or Nikon equipment. But there are others who don’t.
Go to http://www.dpreview.com/ for honest reviews. Your biggest decision will be to determine which sensor size would be best for your intended purpose. This generally comes down to a choice between 35 mm (so-called full frame), APS-C and perhaps APS-H.

Depends entirely on what sort of photography you are doing.
A ‘blad is not the best for high speed sports photography just as a Nikon d3 is not the best for high quality studio shots.

What sort of photography are you thinking of doing? Horses for courses. If I was a cynical sort of a guy, I might think that anyone who needs to ask a question like this isn’t ready to even contemplate taking money from people in return for using skill, knowledge and expertise in taking photographs.
