Hello i’m just stopping by to say to you that for me the best camera you can buy is from the brand Kodak and Cannon those two I have and work real well i have sold the cannon and still have the Kodak almost going on to 2 years with it hope i have helped you to make a good chice for you

  2. There is really no way we can help you without knowing exactly what you want the camera for.

There are cameras that are okay at everything, then there are the cameras that are better at some things, but worse at other things.

A big trend right now are superzoom cameras, which have 15X zoom and such. Of course, if you’re planning on shooting big scenes, then that 15X zoom is wasted on you, isn’t it?

For general all-rounders, really popular brands are Nikon and Canon. Nikon has its Finepix and Coolpix series (I haven’t used either of them, but I’ve heard that the Finepix series focuses more on picture quality and less on the consumer gimmicks.), and Canon has the Powershot series.

Ken Rockwell recommends the Canon SD880 on his site as a good all-round camera. Of course, do note that Ken Rockwell is slightly opinionated, so if he makes any huge claims, do some research on them.

    To directly answer your question:
    Canon and Nikon are good.
Around 6 megapixels are good. 10 is pretty much the ceiling. Any more doesn’t really matter, because the amount of pixels you get only really starts to kick in when you’re making huge (poster-sized, etc.) prints.
I’m not a zoom type, so I’ll recommend around 5x Optical (digital zoom means nothing. It just blows up the image as if you zoomed in on a computer). If you’re not a zoom type either, paying extra for 15X zoom that you probably won’t use isn’t very nice.

    Good luck!

  3. I recommend Canon PowerShot SD1200IS 10 MP Digital Camera with 3x Optical Image Stabilized Zoom and 2.5-inch LCD

  5. If you are really on a budget and want the best quality for the money, check out the P&S Panasonic Lumix DMC-FZ28 [with a Leica lense and Live View] which has more features than most pro DSLRs that require auxiliary lenses not even equal to the single initial full-range lense that comes with the FZ28. It is reviewed at:
