Why won’t my digital cable TV work?

My cable was working fine yesterday morning. I went to turn on the TV around 9:00p.m. and it had the blue screen saying the channel will be ready in a moment. I tried to get it to work by cutting it off and unplugging and then plugging back in. This did not work. I called the cable twice to refresh and that did not work. This morning I called again and they are sending someone out on Wednesday. My question: I noticed that on my digital converter box there is a red and yellow light. Only the yellow light is showing up after all that plugging and unplugging. How can I get the red light back on the digital converter box myself?
