Switch to digital TV?

Posted on Sep 24, 2009 under Digital news and reports |

The switch to DTV was premised on freeing up the analog channels for emergency and other official uses.

A signal sent to a digital converter sends a signal back to the satellite. These signals are records of what you watched how long you watched it and very likely other more "sensitive" info. PPV, On Demand and program guides are evident of this. These same things happens with cell phones.

(cell phones have been proven to still transmit data and personal conversations while not in use or turned off anyone who was with Cingular noticed that when they switched to AT&T the company name on the display changed from Cingular to AT&T meaning the displays are not pre-programed )

The habits and patterns of the people are being recorded and will be used at a later date.

What do you think this information will be used for? marketing or something far more sinister?

The switch to digital TV was to free up space on the Electromagnetic Spectrum for RFID.

  2. Televisions are not able to transmit.

Time to stop watching the reruns of "Max Headroom".

  3. MSM just made me to buy Cable so I can watch FOX. MSM sucks!

  4. Your Horns are Showing Morris. Says:

Something sinister like recording phone calls to my sister and whether or not you watched Americas Got Talent?

  5. If you are concerned about personal liberties being eroded you are wise to be concerned.

  6. idk, but the signal you get with rabbit ears goes in and out when you live in a fringe area. i liked the anolog signal better with a little static but didn’t cut out

  7. Hate to break it to you, but digital converters don’t have satellite antennae and so are incapable of contacting satellites.

It is still possible to log, in detail, what people are watching, but beyond that there’s no other sensitive information to obtain. The means to obtain more data does not exist.

I know this would fail with cable, cable broadcasts all channels simultaneously to everyone and I don’t believe their specs allow for information to be sent back to providers like Comcast what channel the person is watch and for how long. On-Demand is a different story.

  8. Something far more sinister. I can’t help but see that this government is not out for the best interests of its people or the people of the world, but their own pockets and well being.
