Why are digital to analog television converter boxes so hard to find?
Posted on Oct 01, 2009 under Digital news and reports |I looked everywhere including Walmart, Target and they are all sold out. Does anyone know if stores will be selling these again?

They should be selling them again. I would recommend buying some online, because some online stores are giving them away for free, with the $40 government coupon.

Because the market was driven buy the government coupon program. The government stopped sending out coupons and the stores don’t want to be stuck with boxes they can’t sell.

Any boxes you find will probably be the less desirable models.
If you still have coupons, there are online stores that still have stock. See links below. The "DTV Pal Plus" would be a good choice; the "Artec" are popular with people who want to operate them on 12 volts (RVers, etc.). The Channelmaster is good at handling weak signals.
If you don’t have coupons, your best bet is ebay.com
I’d recommend the Zenith DTT901 or Insignia APT model.
