Digital Cameras help?
Posted on Oct 10, 2009 under Digital news and reports |Okay, The only stores I can go are Bestbuy or radioshack. I’m just going to do basic stuff, nothing professional. Here are to cameras that I’m planning to get.

Which of these 2 cameras, would you recommend me getting?

I would go for the Canon
AA batteries mean you can use NiMH rechargeables, but can always fall back on Alkaline AA’s in a pinch. You can buy AA’s anywhere in the world.
Optical image stabilization is a little better than digital image stabilization, but at the mild zoom lengths with these cameras, it won’t matter much.
The Canon has 4x optical zoom which is a little better than the 3x on the Kodak. Forget about digital zoom features, you can always do that on your computer at home later on.
Both let you shoot with the LCD screen as a viewfinder, but the Canon has an optical viewfinder which means you can also look through the camera at your subject an not hold the camera at arms length while shooting.
The Kodak is quite a bit thinner which makes it easier to pocket (and a little more difficult to operate). You pay for that thinness by having to buy the dedicated Lithium-ion battery (and spares).
Whatever you do, do yourself a favor and buy a protective camera pouch/case for the camera. Read the site and see how many people say "lens stuck/camera won’t turn on".
