Sony has one glaring flaw. It uses memory cards that are proprietary and usually cost twice what a comparable SD / SDHC card costs and can only be used on other Sony products
If you are talking about DSLR’s then the comparison is between Nikon and Canon … Sony is out of that picture for a variety of reasons other than there being so few lenses available for it … it uses a proprietary flash shoe … only Minolta and Sony flash units can be used
I’m upset. You didn’t even mention Nikon. :p
If you go to wikipedia you can find a full line-up of all the cameras they have made and look for specs and reviews.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nikon http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Canon_(company)
the canon one is not as good as the nikon one but it still has links to some of the cameras.
I actually could not find a sony line-up, sorry. But if you type in "sony camera" you will still get quite a few articles to browse.
"Best" is a loaded question. Sony point and shoots I find are better than canon point and shoot cameras (though canon may have improved with their newer ones).
As far as SLRs, I think both sony and canon can give high quality images. If by "best" you mean the range of lenses and accessories, then canon has more.
The best camera is the one you are comfortable with and which allows you to use to it’s fullest.

Are you talking about P&S cameras?

Canon is the best.

Sony isn’t really a competitor for first place in that race, mostly because of the Memory Stick thing.
In my opinion, I like Canon for Point and Shoot, and Nikon for DSLR. Canon DSLRs don’t quite have the ergonomics that Nikon.

I’ve never used it, but it looks pretty fun to use. Oh, yeah, it also has 50 megapixels. But…..its 30 grand.
