We have just had a second wave of the digital switchover and we tried to watch channel five and it didn’t work, so we scanned, and it still doesn’t work!? We have scanned so many times and tried to get it to work but we don’t know what to do now.

Transferring from printed film photos to digital?

Hey Everyone,

My Dad has a lot of old photos he wanted to be turned into digital. I told him I think the only way would be to digitally photocopy them, then crop out the borders. He said what if he took pictures of the photos with his digital camera. I told him it will probably degrade the quality and would be hard to centre/crop.

Was I right to say this? is there any other method of transferring them to digital?

How difficult is it to learn to play a synthesizer? Additionally, should I choose digital or analog?

So, being in college you can imagine I am impulsive and eager to try new things. I played the saxophone for several years, and bass guitar for a period of time. For some time now, I have desired to acquire a synthesizer and learn how to play it. Is this a difficult task? And which would be better, digital or analog? What are the pros and cons of each? The synthesizer is intended to be used for solo indietronic experiments, and used to complement songs in a progressive rock project. Thanks

Where can if find a CHEAP portable MP3 (or other digital audio) Player?

Hi, I’m trying to find a really cheap portable MP3 (digital audio) player. It doesn’t need to have a nice display or interface, just play the music and it would be ok if it just showed the track number instead of the name. It needs to have a standard headphone jack and I would prefer battery powered. Even if you guys can’t think of where to find one, if you can suggest a brand and model that would help.

I need it cheap because I’ll be using 3 to 5 at a time to share music with a group of people and I may also send them out with others.

Hey Everyone …. Thank you for the suggestions. They are appreciated, at least the real ones. I know about STORES since I have worked in retail including K-Mart and Target. I’m looking for REALY cheap players, like less than $10 so that I don’t have a large investment and I don’t have to worry about losing a lot if and when they decide to "walk away."
