Yes, of course it can record video. All digital cameras can. If you have the camera, just look in your User Guide (page 86).
At the best quality available (640 x 480) @ 30fps…you will be able to record approx. 16 minutes per 2GB.
For recording movies, I recommend 4GB minimum capacity, which allows plenty of room for images and/or video. You’ll also need a reasonably fast memory card (fast class 4 or Class 6 card).

Check out the $230 Canon Powershot SD1200IS ELPH compact digital camera [from Amazon.com] which is currently check rated by Consumer Reports [September ‘09 issue]. When set to "P," "10M 3648X2736," "Vivid" and video format "320X240 30 fps," will generate "stunning" color still and home movies. And the built-in quality microphone is capable of recording concert music as well. An 8 gig SD card should hold about 35 minutes of quality video.
