What digital camera would be the best to take in desert conditions?

I’m traveling to the middle east and am wondering what camera will stand up to the extreme heat and sand.

    NO camera can handle sand well … one reason many of us pros carry these with us when shooting in very dusty conditions.

    The heat you find in the desert will not damage digital cameras

    If a P&S camera is enough for you, you can find some good waterproof P&S cameras currently made by Olympus, Pentax and Canon. They will work well in sand storms
