Best digital slr for a newbie?

I’m thinking of picking up a digital slr for photography and I am quite new to it still (I have only used basic digital cameras before when I took pictures). I know how some of the basics work like iso, aperture, and shutter. I’m interested in doing night time shots (city scapes, people, darker urban) also I am interested in shooting pictures of people (modeling and capturing the moment type of stuff). Any recommendations on which digital slr camera I should get? also what should I be looking into when I am making my decision i.e. what technical specs should i be concerned about? My budget is definitely $2000 or below. I’d prefer cheaper as a $2000 dollar first timer’s digital slr is quite pricey.

I’ve taken 3 Clear Blue Digital test which have all came back positive.. but now i’m starting to worry because I’ve seen some people say they’re not accurate…My boyfriend & I are so excited about me being pregnant & I would hate to find out that i’m not…Have any of you all tried Clear Blue Digital & if so was it accurate?

Star Trek Digital Copy Question. Please Help!!!!?
