You will need to research this camera, I have not used it or seen it in person, but it seems interesting for concerts or any moments where you consider audio important.
It is called the ZOOM Q3 Handy Video Recorder. Below I listed a link to the company’s web site who makes the camera and to some sellers.
There are zero compact digital cameras that are good for concerts, night time events and general low light photography. They all use very tiny image sensors with too many pixels packed into them. These very tiny pixels gather very little light.
You’ll need a dSLR, with its large image sensor (and large pixels) mated to a large aperture lens, it will get the job done.
There are some compact-ish digital cameras that have a large image sensor, similar to a dSLR, but they cost more than most entry level dSLRs. They would be Sigma’s DP1 and 2, Panasonic’s GF1 and the Olympus EP1 and 2.
There are currently two Compact cameras that will take good photos at concerts and even very dark gigs.
The Sony DSC-WX1 : This is a super-compact, it’s point and shoot, but with some great features (such as high speed burst mode) that make it great for low light concerts. Issues, you can’t set the highest ISO levels manually. Great for gig and club nights. http://www.sony.co.uk/product/dsc-w-series/dsc-wx1
The Canon PowerShot G11: While still a compact this is about four times the physical volume of the little Sony, but it does give far better manual control. Again it’s low light abilities are superb, though it’s burst mode is slower than the Sony. If you are just going to gigs, then this would be my choice, but if you then go to a club after, it’s just a little too large. http://www.canon.co.uk/For_Home/Product_Finder/Cameras/Digital_Camera/PowerShot/PowerShot_G11/index.asp
Oh, and by the way, I own both of these (and a DSLR) and if I had to choose between them I’d be stuck, they are both great gig cameras. I’ve found it amusing that photographers with massive DSLRs find it difficult to produce some of the shots I can get from these cameras, so they really do the business!
Nikon Coolpix L100 latest model and good price

I shot this http://tonyflores.smugmug.com/Candids/Calistoga-Lighted-Parade-2009/10553554_8nLhL#734402420_NPFjF with a Sony A700 dSLR and no flash, it would be impossible do with a regular compact regardless of brand or price.
