temperature reader/device digital reader?

does anyone know where i could find a device that can read temperature off metal, i need it for to read the temperature of my heatsink. please i have seen them on youtube its like a wire that u attach to the heatsink and it displays it on a digital panel

What you are looking for is called a "thermocouple".

I might suggest an infared probe that doesn’t require you actually touch the surface with anything to read it’s temperature.

When I read the previous answer, I thought he had the right answer, however after reading the complete question I think you are looking for something else. I have one of the infrared readers as the previous poster mentioned but it is more for a instant check of temperature., not a continious check.
Actually I think you want a add on for your computer case that has a sensor that attaches to your CPU heat sink ( or whatever device you desire ) and the wire lead goes to a display panel that attaches in the face of an empty drive bay.
There are quite a few available so please look around. A great source for parts like this is Ebay. You can probably buy one locally, but the markup of items like this is tremendous.
