How to use the raw format on a digital camera?

I want to use raw so I can edit the white balance.
My photos always have a noticeable yellow tint esp. in room lighting.
I can’t seem to find a setting in my (point-and-shoot) digital camera that can change to raw.
Does it only work for SRL cameras?
If I can’t do raw, how can I get rid of the tint? Thanks.
My camera is a Exilim EX-Z60

You don’t mention the make and model of your camera.
In room lighting, you want to set your white balance from auto to incandescent or tungsten. After taking pictures in room lighting, be sure to set your white balance back to auto. The manual in your camera will show you how to set your white balance.
Many point and shoot cameras do not have raw mode. The more advanced P&S cameras sometimes offer raw. You can correct the white balance in post processing on jpegs.

Very few point and shoots have the RAW setting. You may try to use a lens filter to eliminate the artifical light source. These are available in various sizes, and for both flouresent and incandesent sources. Try the Belkin website. Or just Goggle the problem. RAW is not the be all and end all of adjusting your final results you would find that to be true if your camera had that setting. Filters should work well also. Read your cameras manuel closely for other things you may do there may even be a white balance control built in that you can activate on some of the better point and shoots. I would also try to shoot with the artifical light turned off, especially during daylight hours, pull up window shades or blinds and just use your flash, or even natural light with flash off, use some method of holding the camera extra steady as your exposure time will be somewhat longer. Holding the camera steady is very key in low light photography. Lastly sometimes you get a more interesting shot even though the light is not looking totally natural!

I would try looking for a setting in you camera for Tungsten or Fluorescent lighting. Using and editing RAW files might be more than you want to deal with. Besides Jpeg’s can be edited for lighting as well.
