I own a Western Digital Passport External Hard Drive (320gb). My retarted brother dropped the hard drive. My computer detects& recognizes the hard drive but when i go to MYCOMPUTER to acces the hard drive it is not there. I really need the information on this hard drive. Can someone please tell me how to do this?

  1. Harley Drive Says:

dropped hard drive = broken hard drive the electronics are still working but the read/write mechanism isn’t

  2. I have the same exact hard drive as you and was having the same problem, except mine wasn’t dropped.

Did you put a password on it? If so, go to My Computer and then go to the G drive called "WD SmartWare" and then select "Unlocked" or whatever it’s called.

If that doesn’t help, try this website. They give you multiple suggestions:
