Does my DVR need a digital tuner??…?

Posted on Feb 08, 2010 under Digital news and reports |

I have an HDTV (digital tuner built in), I do not have cable (I use bunny ears), and want to get a DVR to record some tv to watch later. Does the DVR player I buy need to have to a digital tuner built in? Even though the tv has one?

  1. Yes, your DVR needs a digital tuner as well.
And if you connect them right, you can record one program on the DVR while watching another on the TV.

  2. The DVR needs its own tuner, either built in or external. I recommend one built in, you can set recordings and channel changing in one go.

The tuner in the TV is very awkward to use with a DVR.
