Help with buying a new Digital Camera?
Posted on Feb 08, 2010 under Digital news and reports |I have now lost my 3rd camera in two years.
I seem to have bad luck
My last camera was a Nikon s550 and it just decided to stop working all on its own.
When it feels like powering on "Lens Error" would pop up.
The cameras before all had similar problems and I’m confused as I take very good care of them
One was Fuji and the other Canon.
I’ve decided to buy a camera with internal zoom to avoid the common problem.
What suggestions do you have????????
I’m looking for :-
Slim
Internal Zoom
10MP and above

Hi,
I will Suggest you Canon Digital IXUS 95 IS Digital Camera.
Just have a look on his features:
1: It’s size. It’s incredibly tiny, yet still easy to operate, even with my huge (Size 11) hands.
2: The image quality is excellent. Also movie mood doesn’t disappoint either. It has Image Stabilization, which for me is a must.
3: The colours are incredibly bright and vibrant.
4: The battery life is amazing. Especially if you turn the monitor off.
5: The price. It’s very good value.
6: Menu layout. Everything you need can be accessed quickly and easily.
7: An optical viewfinder! Yay! Okay, it’s only basically a hole that you look through, but then you can’t really expect Canon to squeeze a full wealth of "Head-up display" info like on a DSLR into something this size. Top marks to Canon for even including one.
8: Low Megapixel count.
Just try for this.

I have owned the ZS3 for a couple of months and could not be happier. Its portable. I carry it in a little lowepro case on my belt but its also quite pocketable. Its quick to start, focuses quickly and writes reasonably quickly to the 8 GB SDHC III card. There is a delay between the picture and writing. I don’t find it an issue, the cycle is very brief. The menus are easy to use and most needed functions can be accessed through the quick menu associated with a particular mode. Flash photography is easy enough and its easy to select the flash mode for auto, fill flash, red eye reduction, or forced off etc. with the simple push of a couple of buttons button. Equally easy to access is the self timer mode, macro AF and exposure compensation. Image quality has been outstanding both indoors and outdoors, I am pleased with the tonal balance. Outside in bright daylight I like to force it to 80 ISO and I love the shots that turned up with that particular setting. Those pictures that turn up slightly underexposed indoors because of flash range issues, are easily fixed with the supplied panasonic software as is red eye. Autofocus works well and rapidly even in very dark conditions. The camera has a AF assist lamp. Practically speaking pictures print beautifully at 4×6 and I have printed pictures at 8×10 that I am very pleased with. Most images in 4×3 mode when shot at 10 Mp come in between 4.5 to 5 Mb. It also has options for 16×9 and 3×2 mode. Burst shooting mode is useful even with the reduced MP count. I have taken night shots of city scapes that have worked quite well but I need to get back home, upload and print just to be sure. I wrote this from my hotel room in Lima, Peru.
I love the 12x zoom from 25 mm to 300mm. The video is useful in a pinch and I like the ability to capture it on a single small portable unit. Its a bit difficult with such a small unit to keep on the subject but I expect this will work itself out in time as I get used to it.
The mode dial does move easily but its not a big nuisance for me. The camera tells you if its in the wrong position, its fixed within a fraction of a second. I have never knocked it out of position while shooting. Its only when I stuff it in the camera bag that it gets knocked out of position.
Pratically I got what I paid for, its a great PS. I purchased it for its pocketabiltiy, its zoom lens, 10 MP (on the right sized sensor) to get good pics, the built in IS and ease of use. I got all of that and am quie pleased.

Hi Triniguy,
I work for Fujifilm here in Canada.
The lens error your speak of is usually cause by accidental dropping or possibly turning on accidently inside a camera case. An internal zoom camera as you mention is a perfect solution.
Not sure of your budget or what kind of pics you are looking to take. Fuji makes a Z33WP (CDN$199) waterproof digital camera 10MP, 3X zoom that has become the #1 selling waterproof camera in Canada. Cool taking underwater videos too…especially if you have kids or nieces/nephews.
Check out fujifilm.ca/z33 and check out the reviews or go to http://www.youtube.com/fujiguys for more info
Good luck!
Paul
