How much digital (AVI) memory does a 3 min video shot in LP take up?

I’m new to videoing but I got a DV camera and am ready to learn to edit and post.

30 seconds equals roughly 11 MB. Expect hugh file sizes. But once you author (burn) you projects to DVD, the file format will be changed to MPEG-2 and so that is how a 2 hour movie fits on a DVD, for example.

Mandy is about right, but it does not matter if it was recorded in LP or SP its three minutes, the only thing that is different is the amount of tape used. 5 minutes is about 1gb so you are talking about 600mb for the clip.

if you are only making short clips, then for goodness sakes use the SP setting on the camera. LP is only intended for shooting very long continuous events, like school plays.
