Which is more accurate: a newer digital scale or an older dial scale?

Posted on Feb 25, 2010 under Digital news and reports | 21 Comments

I weighed myself on a digital scale on a rug, and it said I was 174 lbs. Then, I tried it again to make sure it was accurate, and it went down to 170. That startled me, so I tried again, and it said 165. So then I placed the digital scale on a hardwood floor, and it said 207. That made me really confused. So then I tried an old dial scale which is like 10-20 years old, and it said 175. I used to be about 200, a few months ago, and according to all of my clothes, I weigh less than that. I figure I weigh like 180, but I have no idea. Which scale is more likely to be accurate?
