My first digital slr?
Posted on Mar 01, 2010 under Digital news and reports |Ok so I am taking a photography class. I want to purchase my first digital SLR. I am going to be using the camera for class, family parties and functions. Any recommendations on what camera to buy?

nikon d3000 or d5000 if you can afford it

There are a lot of good DSLRs out there, but the ones I recommend the most are the Canon Rebel XS and the Nikon D3000. Both are in the $500-$600 range. They are excellent for first-time DSLR users, such as yourself. See the source links to check out the specs of each camera.

-Nikon D3000
-Nikon D5000
-Pentax K-x
Of all those cameras, the K-x features the best image quality at high isos (low light), the T1i has the best video, the D5000 probably has the best ergonomics and also features a tilt/swivel screen.
